What a wonderful pub! You will not go wrong if you stop off at The Kings Head. Great atmosphere, wonderful host, superb food and fantastic, well kept beers. And if there is music on it will be good.
I visited the Kings Head last nihgt for the second time and I have to say that the rib eye steak was the best that I have ever tasted anywhere! I eat steak everywhere I go so have lots of steak eating experience!! The atmosphere was awesome as a live Jazz band were playing to a full restaurant. I hope to be down again in a couple of weeks!
Having moored at Upton for the night we went in search of dinner. The Kings Head proved to be a wonderful find. Friendly service, superb London Pride, toe tapping music and without doubt the best steaks ever! So tender and cooked to perfection. A definite "must" for the return journey.
Great value afternoon special, vegetarian lasagna for two for less than a tenner ! great pint of bitter, lovely friendly bar staff, quick service, spotlessly clean what more can you ask for ?.. oh and the cheesy chips were spot on. after a nice drive up from South Wales on a day out, we came upon this pub by chance, guess what ? we will be returning in the Summer holidays for a bit more of the same. many Thanks to you all the kings head.
Ate at the Kings Head Monday to Wednesday 12th -14th April 2010 whilst staying in Upton. Food was superb, service excellent and London Pride spot on. Even better you serve Old Rosie!! Brilliant Pub
Last Saturday we had a lovely meal with family & were very impressed with both the meal & the friendly efficient service. The following night we went to the St Patricks day party & really enjoyed the music & ambiance. We are from Australia & just passing through in a narrowboat, so how lucky were we to stumble on this place!!
Thanks to all concerned.

Wednesday Night Jazz and steak night....Superb food, great music, not to mention the sensational voice of "Jack Bennett" as guest singer, more of this Graham please. Highly Recommended A+++++
My husband and i came down on Friday, for lunch, and we also had dinner here. The food was the best we'd ever had, and i would highly recommend this pub to anyone coming over this way for a meal. Our steaks were 'magnificent' and the staff were very helpful. We would certainly come back here again.
The Kings Head has and remains a good pub, it is very sport(rugby and footie orientated) and the back bar was a must on international dates; food was also good and wholesome. Front bar mostly filled with locals with an eye on fishing and shooting and plenty of banter.
Without a doubt the best pub in Upton. 3 rooms catering for 3 different types of customer. In my opinion its the only reason for visiting the town.
I ate in this pub last week. I was very impressed i have to say. The staff were all very polite and helpful and the new menu and food was to die for, and not too expensive, like most. The service was very quick, concidering they were very busy, and all in all it was a nice day out with the family. The bar staff were very chatty and gave a friendly atmosphere throughout. The toilets were clean, which was a bonus. I will certainly be recomending it to all of my colleges and friends.
Hi,
Just wanted to say I came over from Belfast on Friday to stay with a friend for the Jazz Festival my friend suggested we eat at the Kings Head as this is her local and I can see why she loves it there so much. I met the Landlady who was very welcoming as were al of the Kings Head staff, very polite, engaged in great conversation, helpful and above all they all had smiles on their faces! We had a fantastic meal that was 2nd to none.
I will definately be coming over again for the Blues Festival and will catch up with my friends and staff that I met at the Kings Head.......Highly recommended.
Yours sincerely,
Libby
Good Afternoon,
I would like to say thank you. I came into your back bar on Thursday because you where the only place in town to have the football on and had a great evening with some friends and your barman was such a Sweetie. He was telling us all the places to see and do while the Jazz festival was on. We returned several times over the weekend for some drinks and some food and to thank him for his hospitality but didnt see him again. So if you could pass on my thanks I would be very grateful (Im the blonde haired lady that said he looked like my son)
I highly recommend this pub to anyone reading this there staff where very friendly, best in the town and there guest ales are spot on.
